Ramandeep Singh's Ongoing Struggles

Ajinkya Rahane has once again decided to leave Ramandeep Singh out of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) playing XI for the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals. This marks the second consecutive game where the all-rounder has not been selected. Retained for ₹4 crores before the auction, Ramandeep finds himself on the sidelines as Anukul Roy takes his place in the lineup.

Last season, Ramandeep played a crucial role in KKR's championship victory in 2024, even earning a call-up to the Indian national team due to his impressive performance. However, this season has been challenging for him, as he has managed to score only 30 runs in eight matches, with a disappointing strike rate of 115.38.

As a finisher, Ramandeep's primary responsibility is to score quickly rather than accumulate runs steadily. In the previous season, he boasted a strike rate of 201.61, hitting boundaries approximately every five balls. This year, however, he has seen that number rise to over seven balls per boundary, leading to his exclusion from the team during a tough phase for KKR.

In the last match, Rahane opted for Rovman Powell, a seasoned middle-order batsman and former West Indies captain. This time, he chose Anukul Roy, another left-handed batsman, to enhance the team's balance with his left-arm spin bowling. Roy has proven effective on the turning pitches in Delhi, and with Andre Russell also performing well, KKR appears to be well-equipped in the finishing department.
